Hello everyone!
I’m currently working on an exciting project to create an automatic pet food dispenser for my cat. The dispenser will have several features aimed at providing convenience and ensuring my pet is well-fed. Here’s a brief overview of the project:
Project Overview:
- Functionality: The dispenser will have a lid that opens automatically when activated by a motion sensor (detecting my cat). It will also dispense food at scheduled times (6 AM and 6 PM) as long as the food bowl is less than half full.
- Components:
- Real-Time Clock (RTC): To manage the scheduled feeding times.
- PIR Motion Sensor: To detect when my cat is nearby and ready to eat.
- Ultrasonic Sensor: To measure the food level in the bowl and prevent over-dispensing.
- Servomotor: To control the opening and closing of the lid. Also to control dispensing of food.
Specific Sensor Recommendations Needed:
I’m looking for suggestions for reliable sensors in the following categories:
- RTC Module: Which RTC module do you recommend for accurate timekeeping and ease of use with Arduino?
- PIR Motion Sensor: What model of PIR sensor provides reliable motion detection for small pets? Any tips on sensitivity settings would also be appreciated!
- Ultrasonic Sensor: Which ultrasonic sensor offers good range and accuracy for measuring the distance to the food level? I'm particularly interested in models that work well in compact spaces.
Any insights or recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated! I’m excited to get started on this project and look forward to your suggestions.
Thank you!
